OMNY/Bee-Line

The MTA just announced that MetroCards will officially be phased out by December 31, 2025 — marking the end of an era as the new tap-and-go OMNY system becomes the main way to pay for your ride.

When is OMNY coming to Bee-Line?

We expect to start accepting OMNY payments in early 2026.

What does OMNY do?

With OMNY, riders can simply tap and pay using a contactless credit or debit card, a digital wallet, or an OMNY card. For those who prefer to use cash, OMNY cards can be bought and reloaded at stores, online, or at OMNY vending machines.

Will MetroCards and cash still be accepted?

MetroCards will still be accepted into early 2026 while the transition to OMNY is completed. And don’t worry—cash (coin) payments will continue to be accepted on the Bee-Line even after MetroCards are phased out.

How do transfers work?

Until Bee-Line begins accepting OMNY payments, OMNY fares won’t count as valid transfers on Bee-Line. So, if you regularly transfer between Bee-Line buses and New York City Transit buses or subways, please keep using your MetroCard until OMNY officially launches on the Bee-Line system.

Where can I find more information?

Riders should stay informed by checking this page for updates. In addition, OMNY Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the MTA’s website.

During this transition period, some MetroCard products like EasyPay Pay Per-Ride cards have been discontinued. If you have received a letter from MTA indicating that your MetroCard will no longer be accepted and have questions, call (914) 813-7777 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
